  306. I would like to put together a microcontroller for sending
  307. "connectionless packets" (see AX.25 protocol in 1994 ARRL Handbook)
  308. for automatic weather data.  Since the controller would drive a
  309. 1200 modem directly, a fair amount of detailed information is
  310. required to bit-bang to create the proper packet framing.
  311.  
  312. Two immediate questions I have:
  313.  
  314. 1.  What is the ISO 3309 algorithm for calculating the 16 bit
  315. Frame-check sequence?  Anyone have this standard handy?  Is
  316. it a CRC?
  317.  
  318. 2.  What segments of the frame can/should be omitted for the
  319. connectionless mode of operation?
  320.

  322. amateur high altitude balloons, satellites, beacons, etc.) or

  336. video modes. Slow scan, fast scan, I have heard the rumors but now it is time 
  337. for facts. Are there any engineers out there who have digitized video and sent 
  338. it over 56k lines. What is state of the art? What is on the edge? I am setting 
  339. up a system and need all the options. Thanks for any responses.
